What’s Better for Gaming: Raw Performance or Upscaling Techniques?

Hey everyone! I'm looking to upgrade my GPU for gaming, primarily to play Rainbow Six at 1080p aiming for 240+ fps, and some AAA titles at 1440p. I'm currently considering the 6800 XT, which I found at a great price along with a power supply. Alternatively, I could save up for a bit longer to get my hands on a 9060 XT. Should I go for the 6800 XT now and potentially sell it later, or hold out for the newer model? I'm mainly curious about whether raw performance is more important than upscaling technologies like DLSS or FSR.

I lean towards raw performance. But with modern upscaling like DLSS or FSR4, you're getting some great extra performance without sacrificing much in terms of visuals. My 3080 performs excellently at 1440p thanks to DLSS, but I’m not a fan of frame generation because of its added latency.

I’d say it's a bit of both, really. You want the raw performance initially, and then having good upscaling available is a bonus when you need that extra boost.

If you’re sticking with the R3 3100, just know it might limit your FPS for 1080p, as it's not super powerful. Raw performance is key, especially since Rainbow Six isn't overly demanding on the GPU. Get the best you can now, and you can always use DLSS or FSR later to enhance your experience.

Honestly, the difference between the 6800 XT and 9060 XT is just about 15%. Personally, I think that having good upscaling is more beneficial than that minimal raw performance increase.
