Hey everyone! I'm a beginner sysadmin and just joined a deployment team for a big corporate project. We'll be spending a lot of time in a data center, and since this is my first big project, I want to be well-prepared. We'll be deploying at least 40 servers and some switches. I've got my management cables already, but I'm curious about what else I should carry daily to make my job easier and more efficient. Any advice from experienced admins? Thanks!

Honestly, one of my must-haves is an external USB-C NVMe SSD. It's quick and reliable for transferring large files. And make sure you have a power bank on hand too—you never know when you might need a little extra juice!

Don’t forget the essentials like a screwdriver set, laptop charger, and good quality patch leads. A label maker can be a huge time-saver when marking cables too! And since you’ll be on your feet a lot, invest in some comfy shoes—you’ll thank me later!

You might not think about it, but a high-quality flashlight can really help when you're working in those dark server racks. I recommend something like the Wuben G5—it's tough, rechargeable, and really bright. Plus, the iFixit Pro Tech tool kit is invaluable for electronics repairs and having the right tools feels like a game changer.

Definitely a small electric screwdriver! It's super handy for quick fixes, plus don't forget a power supply for your laptop and a rack power adapter—sometimes those outlets aren’t standard. And hey, pack some protein bars for those longer hours!

Great additions! I'd also throw in a spare battery for the screwdriver and a regular screwdriver just in case. Also, a travel organizer bag to keep everything tidy is a lifesaver!

You’ll definitely want to pack snacks—trust me, all-nighters happen in data centers! I always carry some Corn Nuts and an energy drink like Monster for those low-energy moments. Plus, a good laptop bag is essential for carrying all your gear and keeping it organized!
