Hey there! I'm curious about the System Development Engineer L4 position at Amazon and would love to get some insights from anyone who has experience in that role. What's the job really like day to day? I'm also interested in how the interview process goes and what I should focus on to prepare, since I've found the job description pretty vague. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

The interview process at Amazon is pretty structured. They really like to see STAR method answers, which are basically responses that follow a Situation, Task, Action, Result format. My experience involved several steps: first, a screener call that asked basic questions about DNS and system architecture to weed out the unqualified, then an interview with the hiring manager, followed by a coding test, and finally a panel interview focused heavily on their leadership principles. They ask a lot of 'name a time when' questions! Good luck!

What’s the STAR method? I haven’t heard of that!

I recently went through the interview process for a similar role. It was mostly about Linux systems and Python, with a particular focus on optimizing EC2. Honestly, I wasn't prepared at all, so it might help to brush up on those areas!
