What’s the Best Affordable CPU to Upgrade from a 2200G for Basic Use?

I'm looking for advice on replacing the AMD 2200G in a PC I built years ago for my parents. They mainly use it for basic home office tasks, and I've noticed it struggles with the Windows 11 upgrade. I'm considering whether to buy the cheapest AM4 CPU available or if there are better options out there. The PC has a B350 motherboard and an old 5700XT, so I don't need integrated graphics. Ideally, I want a CPU that lasts at least another decade.

Why not try out Linux Mint or Zorin OS as a dual-boot? They would work fine for basic tasks unless you specifically need Windows apps. Plus, you could get a cheap $25 SSD for Linux storage or even just use a USB flash drive for it!

The Ryzen 5600 and its variants are solid options. Just grab whichever one is the cheapest. However, keep in mind that you'll likely need to update your motherboard's BIOS before putting in the new CPU, so make sure to do that first. Also, if there’s less than 16GB of RAM, that could be causing some slowdown too!

Yeah, but the 5600 might be more than what you really need since the system isn’t slow, just the 2200G isn’t supported anymore.

You can find Ryzen 5600Gs on eBay at really low prices! Just remember, a BIOS update is necessary for those.
