I'm currently using a Ryzen 3900X for content creation (like 3D work with Zbrush, Maya, Blender, and Unreal Engine) and some gaming (mainly Overwatch 2). While it's been working great, I recently experienced a much snappier performance on my friend's AM5 setup, which made my PC feel a bit sluggish in comparison. I initially looked for a 5700X3D but found it overpriced due to scarcity. I'm considering the 5900X as an upgrade, but I'm not sure if it'll give me the performance boost I'm looking for. I don't plan on switching to AM5 anytime soon, so I'm curious—what do you all recommend for a snappier experience?

If you're looking for a snappier experience, the 5900X is definitely a solid option. It's going to offer better performance, especially in tasks that rely more on faster cores. However, if gaming is your main focus, the X3D versions are better, but for your use case, the 5900X should feel more responsive overall.
For your work with ZBrush and Blender, a 5800X3D or 5700X3D would provide the best performance among AM4 CPUs. If you need speed for content creation, those are top picks. But remember, for gaming, the latest X3D chips outperform the regular options. If budget is a concern, consider the Ryzen 5 5500—it's cheaper and still offers decent performance for gaming.
Thanks for the heads-up about the 5500, I’ll do some research on it!
Yeah, I’ve heard good things about the 5800X3D for content work too. Might consider it!
I decided to go for a used 5700X3D from a seller in China, and I don't regret it! It was a significant improvement coming from the 3900X.
That’s great to hear! What site did you purchase from, if you don’t mind sharing?
Could you tell us how much you paid for it? I'm curious about the value.

I've been using a 5900X for a while now, and I can confirm it doesn't feel slow at all. You'll notice an improvement!
