Should I Upgrade an Old PC or Build a New One for My Fiancé?

I recently got a free, 20-year-old PC that surprisingly still works, aside from some rust inside the case. My fiancé is interested in having her own computer, so I'm torn between upgrading this old machine or starting fresh with a brand new build. The current system is running Windows XP, so I'm considering three options: transferring the motherboard to a new case and upgrading it, upgrading the existing parts while keeping the old case, or just building an entirely new PC from the ground up. Any thoughts or experiences would really help!

Honestly, upgrading a 20-year-old PC generally sounds like a bad move. You'll likely hit lots of limitations that could make using modern apps a real hassle. If you're going to invest in something, building a modern PC would be a way smarter choice. Especially since the PC hasn't been powered on in 20 years; it'll struggle with everything you want to do.

Haha, right? It can't run modern apps at all because Windows XP is pretty much unsupported now!
