What’s the Best Budget Build for 1440p Gaming?

I've always gamed on consoles, but after enjoying my Steam Deck this past Christmas, I'm ready to dive into full PC gaming. My monitor can handle 4K at 60 FPS, but I'm looking for the most affordable setup that can run games at 1440p and 60 FPS. I'm interested in playing newer titles like Spider-Man from Insomniac, the remakes of Dead Space and Silent Hill 2, and the latest Resident Evils, as well as Fortnite. If it's more budget-friendly, I'm open to starting with 1080p at 60 FPS and upgrading later. I have a preference for AMD and Nvidia components, if that helps. Any suggestions?

Here's a potential 4K build: [PCPartPicker Link](https://pcpartpicker.com/list/2WRQWc). You can potentially save a few hundred bucks during sales, but this setup is a good starting point. You could swap down to the 5070 Ti to save around $300 too if needed.

Here is a solid latest-gen budget build option:

**CPU**: AMD Ryzen 5 9600X - $192.95
**CPU Cooler**: Thermalright Assassin X 120 - $17.89
**Motherboard**: Gigabyte B850 Gaming WiFi6 - $159.99
**Memory**: Patriot Viper Venom 32GB DDR5-6000 - $85.99
**Storage**: Patriot P400 Lite 1TB SSD - $54.98

**Case**: GameMax F45 ATX - $56.99

I’m not a parts guru, but for a solid 1440p 60 FPS setup, I’d recommend the 9060 XT 16GB or even the 9070 XT if you can swing it. Most AM5 CPUs are capable of good gaming performance too. The 7800X3D is a great budget option with 3D V-cache to boost gaming. Just make sure you get at least 16GB of DDR5 RAM and don’t cheap out on the PSU—it’s crucial! The Peerless Assassin cooler is a nice budget choice for the CPU too. Good luck!

To get into 4K gaming, you will need a powerful GPU; something like a 5070 Ti or 9070 XT for around $699-$749. You could also consider the 5080 if you want the top performance for about $1000. Realistically, expect to spend between $1800 and $2000 for a proper 4K setup. But if you just want to game at 1080p, you could get by with closer to $1000!

Do you have a recommended build for 1080p as I plan to upgrade my old PC? My budget is around $1000.

I’d be super interested in a budget 1080p build myself, so please share!

Check out this build: [PCPartPicker Link](https://pcpartpicker.com/list/nzT8gn). If you're near a Micro Center, you might be able to snag a 7600X motherboard combo which can save you a decent chunk of change. If you want to future proof for 4K, it’s best to invest in at least a 5070 Ti or a 9070 XT, but that will cost you an extra $350-$400 in total for a better PSU and GPU.
