I'm upgrading my gaming PC from 2019, which has a Ryzen 5 2600x, an RX 590, and 16GB of DDR4 RAM (now expanded to 32GB). I just got an XFX SWFT 309 6700 XT for $280 and noticed a significant performance boost. However, I'm seeing higher CPU usage while the GPU usage has dropped. I'm considering getting a 1440p monitor but I suspect the 2600x might bottleneck my performance. I've heard the Hyper 212 can handle a 5700x3d, but I want to reuse my cooler if possible. I wasn't thrilled with the 5600x in a previous build and am looking for suggestions on a budget CPU that will give me a solid performance upgrade for 1440p gaming. Any recommendations?

Make sure your BIOS is up to date before swapping anything out. I recommend either the Ryzen 5 5600 or the 5700x3d. They should give you the boost you need for 1440p gaming.
Upgrading to 1440p usually puts less strain on your CPU since higher resolutions rely more on your GPU. I suggest you get the monitor first and see how it performs before you worry about the CPU.
Thanks for the input! I wasn't aware that higher resolutions could lessen the load on the CPU.
The Ryzen 5700x3d has a TDP of 105W, so your Hyper 212 cooler should handle it just fine since it's rated for 150W. Should work without issues!
You might not need to rush into a CPU upgrade yet. With 1440p, the CPU's role diminishes a bit. The Ryzen 5700x3d is a great option as it should pair nicely with your new GPU and give you a longer-lasting upgrade.
I've been using a Hyper 212 with the 5700x3d, but my case doesn’t have the best airflow. I had to undervolt to keep temps down, but I've managed to play games fine. Just make sure you keep an eye on your thermal compound and airflow; it really matters for performance!
I have a more ventilated case and rarely face temp issues, but I appreciate your caution. Thanks for the advice!
Got it! I’m a bit anxious about the BIOS update though. So, update it first, then install the new CPU, and don't forget to update the drivers afterward?
