I'm putting together a new PC and ordered a cooler, but I accidentally got the NZXT Kraken Elite 2023 instead of the 2024 model. I'm wondering if I should stick with the 2023 version, upgrade to the 2024 version, or just go with a Noctua fan which is cheaper. This is my first build, so I appreciate any advice! Thanks!

For the 9800X3D, remember that it's not a hard chip to cool. The cooler you’re looking at might be overkill. I used to rock a NH-D15, but switching to an AIO was a good move for easier access to my GPU, even if I'm not completely sold on the brand. The display was cool, but it's just a gimmick in the long run!
Honestly, I’d skip the Kraken altogether and go for a Peerless Assassin. You’ll save some cash and it should perform just fine for your needs. Check it out on PCPartPicker!
I have a Kraken and honestly, I regret it. Water cooling seemed cool, but now I wish I had just gone for air cooling. It's mostly just headaches with maintenance and reliability. Just my two cents!
Yeah, what turned you off it? Was it installation issues or something else?
Why do you regret it? Just curious!
If you're okay with returning it and you think you'd like the 2024 version better, I'd go for that. It has better specs, but honestly, if you want to save money, the Noctua fans might still do the job well enough without feeling like you missed out.
Honestly, NZXT AIOs are overpriced for what you get, especially the older ones. I'd look at a thermalright AIO instead for comparable performance at a lower price. Returning the Kraken would be a good move if you can!
What CPU are you using, and how is the Kraken 280 treating you? Any issues?
