I'm trying to figure out the ideal processor to match with a 5070 Ti or 9070 XT. People often say that the CPU rarely becomes a bottleneck, and even older models can hold up well. Would the Ryzen 7 9800X3D be overkill for these GPUs? Also, I'd love to hear your thoughts on the GPUs if you have experience with them!

Honestly, even a Ryzen 5 7500F would do just fine for those GPUs. If you're worried about budget, you might want to save some cash and not overspend on the processor. But if you want top-notch performance, the 9800X3D is fantastic. Just keep in mind that it might not be worth the investment over the 7800X3D, especially with the price difference being about 30%.

I have a Ryzen 7 9700X paired with a 9070 XT, and I think that combo is solid. There’s no real upper limit for CPUs with these high-end GPUs. The key is to find something you’re happy with that fits your gaming needs!

It really depends on the games you want to play and at what resolution. For single-player games at 1440p, a Ryzen 5 7600X or 7500F should handle it without bottlenecking your GPU. I went with a 7700 for my 9070XT because I like having extra cores for strategy games. If you're into competitive multiplayer gaming and want max FPS at 1080p, maybe think about the 7800X3D; but honestly, the 9800X3D isn't worth it in my opinion.

Totally agree! It’s all about what you’re playing and what you prefer. The CPU makes a difference, but not always a huge one for casual gaming.
