I'm trying to decide which CPU to pick for gaming between the 5700X, 5800X, and 5800XT. I currently have an R7 2700. If there are any better options still available in the UK, I'd love to hear about those too!

Honestly, the best value would be to just pick the cheapest one, since they all perform similarly. The only real difference is in the default clockspeed, but since they all can be overclocked, it won't matter much. The 5800XT is a better bin, but the difference is negligible for most games.

I went with the 5800X, and it's been fantastic! I'm planning to stick with it until PC parts become more affordable for the next upgrade.

All three CPUs are from the same die, so their main difference is clockspeed. The 5800XT has a slight edge in performance. However, considering the future, you might want to think about investing in an 8-core CPU if you're planning to upgrade by 2025/2026, as they can perform better in games that utilize those extra cores.

I'd just grab a 5600 and upgrade your GPU for better performance overall. I’ve got a 9070 XT, and it’s amazing! There's a lot you can do with that setup.

For gaming, I'd suggest going for the AMD 5600 for around £110. It’s pretty close in performance to the 5700X which is just a few percent faster but costs about £40 more.

That’s a solid choice, especially if you're on a budget! Plus, you can always upgrade your GPU later.
