Did I Choose the Wrong CPU for My Build?

I'm diving deep into the world of PC building and just finished my first build with an AM4 configuration. I went with a Ryzen 7 5700 and a 3060 TI XC. Now I'm second-guessing my decision about the 5700. Is it a poor choice, and should I consider swapping it out for something else? I have a week to return it for a full refund if needed.

Honestly, I think you might be better off with something like the 5600 or 5600X for gaming performance. The 5700 doesn't have as much cache and might not do as well as the others in gaming scenarios, especially compared to the 5700X or 5800X.

It really depends on your budget and the prices in your area. If the Ryzen 7 5700 was $173 after tax, that might be a decent deal, especially if you live in the US. Just make sure to weigh your options against other CPUs available in that price range.

Yeah, I'm in the US too, and it seems like pricing can vary a lot. Hope that helps!

Yep, the 5700 isn't the best choice. It has the Cezanne architecture with only 16MB of L3 cache, while the Vermeer CPUs have 32MB, meaning worse gaming performance overall. If you're building for gaming specifically, I'd definitely consider going with a Vermeer chip instead.

By the way, why did you go with the 3060 TI in 2025? I hope it was a good deal! If you're looking for better performance these days, I’d suggest checking out the latest GPUs, like the 9060 XT 16GB or something in the 5060 series.

I actually got the 3060 TI for $100, which seemed like a steal at the time!
