I'm trying to upgrade my system but I'm not very knowledgeable about computer parts. I'm looking for CPU recommendations around the $250 mark. My current setup includes an AMD Ryzen 5 3600, an AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT, 16GB of RAM (1 stick), a Gigabyte B450M H motherboard, and an 850 watt power supply. I can stretch my budget a bit if it means a significant boost in performance. Any suggestions?

Honestly, before spending big bucks on a new CPU, I’d suggest considering just adding another 16GB of RAM. You might only gain about 20fps from a new CPU, which might not be worth the expense right now.
Another solid option is the Ryzen 5 7600X. It's a great choice for its price, and you should be good to go with your existing setup as long as you manage the cooling right.
You can also look for deals on other CPUs. I just picked up a 14600 for $164 and with a good cooler and a BIOS update, it works great. It's a nice budget-friendly choice!
If you're sticking with your current motherboard, the Ryzen 7 5700X3D would be your best bet for gaming in that price range. It's a powerful AM4 CPU that will really elevate your performance without needing a total overhaul of your system.
If you decide on the 5700X3D, just make sure to check if you'll need a new cooling fan and thermal paste since those might be necessary updates depending on your current setup.

Totally agree! I made the jump from a Ryzen 5 2600 to the 5700X3D, and the performance boost was massive!
