I'm looking to upgrade my CPU to enhance my gaming performance, but I don't need anything overly powerful. Right now, my setup includes an ASUS PRIME H610M-D motherboard, a 12th Gen Intel Core i3-12100 processor, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti GPU, 16 GB of 3200MT DDR4 RAM, and storage from Samsung SSDs. I'm trying to find the optimal CPU that pairs well with my graphics card and fits my system. Any recommendations?

If your games are running fine and you’re not experiencing CPU bottlenecks, you might be okay sticking with your current CPU. But if you're looking for a boost, the i5-12400 is solid. For competitive gaming, you might consider the i7-12700KF or 13700/14700, though your motherboard might struggle with high-end CPUs. Check out the i5-14400F; it might fit well, but compare it with the 12400.
I'd suggest looking at used 12th Gen i5 or i7 processors like the 12400, 12500, 12600, or 12700. The K models are faster but be cautious, the F versions lack integrated graphics. Determine your budget and go for the best you can afford. You might want to avoid the i9-12900 due to its power and heat issues.
Going for the i5-12600K could be worth it, as it can really deliver excellent performance, especially if you're also gaming on a 3080 Ti. However, be aware that your H610 motherboard may not help it reach its full potential when it comes to turbo speeds.
Consider when you will want to upgrade your GPU next. If you plan to upgrade soon, it might not make sense to upgrade the CPU right now, only to face bottlenecking later.

I'm aiming for a balance, which is why I was thinking of the 14400F. But I'm not sure if it’s worth the hassle or if it would really improve my gaming experience.
