I'm putting together an editing PC for my dad, who has finally decided to switch from Mac to Windows after dealing with issues on his Mac Pro while using Premiere Pro. He's got a strict budget of 700-800 CAD, and here's the build I'm considering:

- Ryzen 7 5700X for around $220 (seems great for CPU-intensive tasks like editing)
- MSI B550M VC-WiFi for about $115 (good motherboard; I've had a solid experience with a similar model)
- T-Force Vulcan Z 32GB for $84 (the cheapest 32GB RAM kit I found)
- WD Black SN770 500GB for $0 (we don't need much storage; he has an 18TB external drive)
- NVidia RTX 2060 for $180 (second-hand; NVidia is recommended for Premiere due to NVENC)
- A case for about $50 (finding something used)
- FSP Hexa 650W power supply for $80 (reliable and sufficient power)

Totaling around $730. Will this setup run Premiere efficiently? Any suggestions for improvements or alternatives? Thanks!

Your build looks solid for Premiere Pro! Just a heads-up, the performance heavily relies on the footage type and effects used. If your dad works with heavy effects or 4K footage, you might want to reconsider the GPU for better performance. It might be worth considering bumping up your budget for something like a 2060 Super or 2070 if possible. But for HD work and H.264 encoding, this should serve him well!

Yeah, sticking to HD and H.264 will help him a lot. Just keep an eye on those render times depending on what kind of effects he uses!
