I'm using a specific PC case and planning to upgrade by adding two more fans, bringing my total to six. I want to know the best placement for the exhaust fans and how many I should have for optimal airflow.

If noise is a concern, keep in mind that the top fans usually generate the most sound, so you might want to limit those. One exhaust fan up there is usually sufficient, and if you can, opt for a 140mm fan as it tends to be quieter while still being effective.

You should ideally set up three intake fans on the side and bottom, while the three exhaust fans should go on the rear and top. It's best to run the intake fans at a slightly higher RPM compared to the exhaust fans to create positive pressure, which helps in keeping dust out. Also, if you plan to mount an AIO cooler, remember that those come with their own fans included, so you might not need to buy extra ones.

I’m not getting an AIO right now, but I appreciate the suggestion for the future.

To summarize, your setup can be: rear and top fans for exhaust, and bottom and front for intake. This configuration should help maintain good airflow in your case.
