What’s the Best GPU for a 1440p Monitor?

I'm building a new PC and have decided on the Dell Alienware AW2725D for my monitor, which is a 1440p display with a 280Hz refresh rate. I'm not looking to go beyond 360Hz since I think the extra performance isn't worth it for competitive gaming right now.

I'm currently considering options like the RTX 5070, RTX 5070 Ti, or the RX 9070 XT. The RX 9070 offers more raw power, but I've heard that NVIDIA's latest technology is superior compared to AMD's. I want a GPU that won't become outdated too soon, but I also don't want to overspend on something that doesn't justify its price. Can anyone recommend the best option for my monitor among these, or suggest any other good alternatives?

For the best overall performance at 1440p, the 5070 Ti is definitely the way to go. DLSS from NVIDIA provides better results compared to AMD’s FSR.

That’s what I’ve heard too! Looks like I’ll be leaning towards the 5070 Ti after all. Thanks!

If you have the budget, I personally prefer the 5070 Ti over the 9070 XT based on my experience with both.

Is the difference really that significant? Thanks for your input!

I’d go for the 5070 Ti if you can find it for around $750; if not, consider the 9070 XT which is also a great choice!

Got it, I’ll keep an eye out for that price, thanks!

Look no further than this.

Honestly, both the 9070 XT and 5070 Ti are solid, but if you're after high framerates, remember that your CPU matters a lot too. If you can get a 9070 XT at a good price that allows you to invest in a better CPU, then go for that. Otherwise, the 5070 Ti is worth it for its technology and performance.
