What’s the Best GPU Upgrade for Gaming on a 4K Monitor?

Hey everyone! I'm new to PC gaming and recently built a rig with a Ryzen 5 5600 CPU and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Ti (8GB DDR6). Initially, I was getting around 100-120 FPS while playing Warzone on my Samsung Odyssey G5 screen. However, after upgrading to an AOC 4K OLED monitor, my GPU performance has suffered significantly, fluctuating between 30-80 FPS in-game despite hitting 230 FPS in menus. I'm considering upgrading my GPU, but I'm not sure what would fit and perform well in my setup. Would going for a 16GB GPU improve my performance? I have 32GB of RAM and Warzone installed on an internal SSD, plus I'm using a 650W power supply.

If you're looking to upgrade, at the very least you should consider something like the RTX 5060 Ti with 16GB. However, for better performance, something like the RX 9070 or RTX 5080 would really enhance your gaming experience. Just make sure your power supply can handle the new card!

Upgrading your GPU is definitely needed when moving to 4K. Options like the RTX 5070 Ti or even something in the 9000 series would suit your needs better. Just a heads up, with your current CPU, you might still experience some bottlenecking even with a new GPU, but it should be manageable as long as you balance your settings right!

4K definitely requires more GPU power and VRAM. The RTX 5060 Ti 16GB or RX 9060 XT 16GB could be good entry points, but I’d recommend going for higher-end models like the 9070 or 9070 XT for a smoother experience. Have you thought about lowering your in-game settings or using upscaling to ease the load?

Yeah, I’ve already dropped the settings as low as they'll go, but I still struggle with frame drops. It’s tough trying to fight in those moments!

That sounds frustrating! The higher resolution really does demand so much more from your GPU.

Upgrading for 4K gaming can be quite a challenge, especially with a 4060 Ti. You’ll definitely want a stronger GPU to handle the increased demands of 4K resolution. A bump up to a model like the RTX 5070 Ti or RX 9070 XT would be ideal.

Honestly, your build is a bit outdated for 4K gaming, especially with your current GPU. A Radeon RX 9070 XT would be a solid investment and should pair nicely with your setup. Just be prepared to shell out around $750 for a decent upgrade!
