What’s the Best GPU Upgrade for My Setup?

I recently upgraded my CPU to a Ryzen 7 5700G from a Ryzen 5 2600. Now, I'm looking to replace my GPU, currently a GTX 1660, since it's been giving me trouble handling heavy loads during video editing with Adobe apps and some gaming like Resident Evil. I'm wondering which GPU would be the best choice for my setup. Here are my current specs: Ryzen 7 5700G, GTX 1660, B450 motherboard, 16GB RAM, and a 650W bronze PSU. Any recommendations?

Upgrading your GPU and RAM would make a huge difference for your setup! If you stick with your current motherboard, just make sure the new GPU doesn't draw more power than your 650W PSU can handle.

Definitely go for a GPU upgrade first. The GTX 1660 is okay but really struggles with video editing tasks. Look for something like the NVIDIA 4070Ti or the RX 7800 XT. And while you're at it, think about upgrading to 32GB of RAM if you can, it’ll help with those heavy editing loads! Also, consider a B550 motherboard for better performance with newer GPUs, but that's optional if you just want to upgrade the GPU now.

I've powered my system with a 550W PSU without issues, but definitely check your PSU sticker to confirm what it can handle!

If you can, snag the RX 9060 XT 16GB. It's a great choice and more affordable than Nvidia right now. Don't forget to think about upgrading your RAM while you're at it; it’ll really help with editing!

The GTX 1660 is still a decent card, but if you're experiencing performance issues, definitely look into an upgrade!
