What’s the Best GPU Upgrade for Playing Games at 1440p?

I'm currently using a 2080 Super that runs everything smoothly on my 1080p 100Hz monitor, but I'm looking to make the switch to a 1440p resolution. I found a 1440p 180Hz monitor for just £115, but I won't have enough money left to buy an RX 9070. I'm considering either the 5060 Ti 16GB or the 7800 XT. Would either of these provide a significant upgrade over my current GPU, or should I hold off until I can save up more cash? I'm a bit concerned about NVIDIA scaling back their GPU production, as I don't want to pay extra later. Also, I have a 650W power supply that doesn't support the new 12VHPWR connectors, which complicates things.

If you're eager for a solid 1440p experience, I suggest going for the 9070 XT. It’s been fantastic for my setup, even for superwide gaming. Totally worth considering if you can manage the power requirements!

If cash is tight, maybe grab the GPU now and get the monitor later? Prioritize the GPU; after all, monitors typically don’t see the same price hikes as graphics cards do.

In my opinion, the 5070 Ti is your best bet for 1440p. Just make sure you're ready to swap out your PSU, though. It's definitely worth it if your budget allows for it.

Got it, I'll think about that!

For a budget-friendly choice, the 9060 XT 16GB could be a solid option too. Just enough power for 1440p without breaking the bank.

I'd definitely recommend the RX 9070 XT if you can swing it. It's a solid choice for 1440p gaming! Just keep in mind, you might need to undervolt or upgrade your PSU to make it work. But honestly, waiting might be smart until you've got more funds available.

That makes sense, thanks for the heads up!
