I'm experimenting with various IDEs like VSCode, RooCode, Cursor, and Claude Desktop. I've got several teams working on different projects on GitHub, and I'm looking for a reliable way to quickly set up my local environments so I can easily view these projects. Since many of the projects are already live on Linux servers, I need to do thorough testing before any code is pushed.
How do you all manage multiple projects and provide feedback to your teams? What's the best way to keep up-to-date with the codebases across all these projects? Also, I'm on the lookout to hire developers primarily for Python and JS projects.

It really depends on what you're comfortable with. For me, IDEs that incorporate AI options make a huge difference as long as you know how to leverage them. I've been trying Zed recently, and I like the way it integrates AI features.
For me, the JetBrains suite is the best. It's straightforward and works well on all devices. They've also introduced a feature called Junie, which is great for optimizing workflows.
VS Code is still the top choice for many programmers. It has a huge range of extensions that can turn it into an amazing IDE, especially for languages like Python. Plus, it’s free and open-source!
You should check out MCP. It's pretty handy for managing code in your terminal, and it can help organize everything by using different containers for each project. I found it really useful for keeping my projects sorted!
I heard that Desktop Commander is quite similar to Claude Code but without the token costs. Can it perform all the same functions as Claude while using my subscription?
I tried it out, but be careful—it’s a bit chaotic when it comes to folders. It started deleting files on me because I didn’t prompt it clearly. Proceed with caution!
Honestly, you can't go wrong with Cursor. It's the most seamless option out there, and a lot of users swear by it. Windsurf might be close, but Cursor really stands out.
Cursor’s user experience is just smoother, plus it integrates well with existing setups!
Why Cursor over Claude Desktop with MCP? I can’t seem to wrap my head around that.
I’ve heard Augment Code works well with JetBrains. Have you tried it?
