I'm looking to choose a Linux distro for my new PC, which has a Ryzen 9950x and an RTX 5000 series GPU. I'm hoping for good performance especially with gaming and productivity tasks like machine learning and AI. Additionally, I need support for secure boot and I'm concerned about security and privacy. I'm not a big fan of AUR and similar options, but I'm open to hearing convincing arguments for them.

Give CachyOS a shot! It looks good for performance but I can understand your concerns about Arch and AUR.
I'd recommend checking out Fedora. It's a solid choice for your hardware and balances performance well with security features.
CachyOS looks promising, but I totally get being wary about Arch and the AUR. Make sure to check how much hassle it’ll be if you run into issues.
You might want to consider Nobara or Bluefin/Aurora OS as your top choices. They both seem to cater well to gaming and productivity. Pop OS could work as well, but I've heard it can be tricky with secure boot.
Yeah, I've heard Pop OS has issues with secure boot. It's a bit of a hassle. Nobara seems to be a safer bet.
