I've been wanting to make the switch to Linux for a long time but have faced some challenges along the way. Recently, I encountered issues with MSI Center on my laptop, which pushed me back to Windows. I'm about to build my first computer from scratch and I'm determined to switch to Linux for good. I've used Ubuntu extensively in the past on low-end laptops while I was in school, but this time, I'm considering going with a base Debian install. My main focus is gaming, but I'm also interested in creative tasks like streaming, video creation, and programming. I've ruled out Bazzite—can anyone suggest a good distro to satisfy my needs, or is Debian the way to go?

I'm curious why you're not considering Bazzite anymore. It actually works fine for video and streaming! Just a heads-up, if you're worried about the Steam OS interface, you can switch to KDE Plasma right during the ISO installation. I personally use Kubuntu, which is also a solid option. If you're serious about multimedia, take a peek at Ubuntu Studio—it comes packed with great tools for creators.
Nobara Linux is also a neat option! It’s designed for gamers and creators, so you might want to give it a try.
Have you checked out CachyOS? It's based on Arch, which can be hit-or-miss for installations depending on your experience, but it's worth a look if you’re feeling adventurous.
