Hey everyone! I'm looking for some help choosing a motherboard for my mid-range build featuring a 9700x processor. I'm primarily using it for work and a bit of light gaming. I'd like to keep the price under $200, but I'm open to spending a little more if it really makes a difference. Any recommendations?

I think the main difference between B650 and B850 boards is that PCIE Gen 5 is mandatory on B850, while it's optional for B650. I ended up buying the Asus ROG Strix B650E-F for my 7600x3d, and I think it would work great with the 9700x as well. It's a tough choice to narrow it down, but find something that fits your needs in terms of ports and VRMs. I snagged mine for about $200 on sale!
You can currently grab the Gigabyte B850 GAMING X WIFI6E on Amazon for about $135. It's a solid board with good VRMs and plenty of heatsinks to keep it cool. If that one’s unavailable, the MSI B850 GAMING PLUS WIFI is another great option, around $170, with similar features. In my opinion, these are the best options right now!
If you're looking for a B850 motherboard, just steer clear of AsRock. They’re not the best. I recommend checking out other brands. Any specific needs like ports or features that you want on your board?
