I'm planning to build a new PC but the current GPU shortages and price hikes make it tricky to find a good deal without feeling ripped off. My trusty GTX 1070 has served me well for about 7-8 years, and I'm looking for something that can last another similar timeframe. While I can't play the newest AAA titles, my 1070 still runs a good number of games, and I'm okay with gradually reducing settings as time goes on.
I prefer Nvidia cards since I want to do some work related to AI, so ideally, I'm looking for a model with at least 12 GB of memory. That said, I'm open to AMD options if they provide better value. For me, value means finding a good price-to-lifespan ratio.
I can't stretch my budget beyond $1000-1200 for just the GPU, so any recommendations in this price range would be much appreciated!

If you're looking for good value, the RTX 5070 Ti is a solid choice. You can often find it around $675 with some deals, which is quite below MSRP. It offers great performance for the cost and should be future-proof for a while, especially compared to the 5060 Ti.
I've seen some great bundles too, like CPU and motherboard combos that can help you save even more.
If you're considering AMD, the 9070 XT is impressive for the value, especially with 16 GB of RAM. It matches closely to Nvidia’s offerings in price but gives you more memory for similar or slightly better performance in some scenarios. It’s worth checking out!
Long-lasting options definitely lean toward the 5070 Ti for Nvidia. If your budget is strict, maybe try for it secondhand or look for local deals at places like Microcenter, where you might get lucky with a bundle.
Microcenter has awesome deals; I got my last build there!
Absolutely, and they often have good returns on their products if you catch a defect.
For a budget-friendly option, the 5060 Ti 16 GB is out there for around $430, but keep in mind it's not as powerful as the 5070 Ti. It's decent but won't last as long for gaming at higher settings.
While the 5070 Ti is great, consider checking out the used market for a RTX 3090 if you're serious about AI work; it has more VRAM, which could be crucial for those tasks. Just make sure to check condition and warranty!
Thanks for the tip! I’ll definitely look into that option.
Used GPUs can be a gamble, but if you find a good deal, it might be worth it.

Definitely agree! The 5070 Ti is where you get the most bang for your buck right now.
