I'm looking for advice on a translation device for my dad, who is 78 years old and really not great with tech. He spends part of the year in a Spanish-speaking country and speaks a little Spanish, but not much. He's interested in devices, like those that can translate conversations in real-time, especially ones that don't need Wi-Fi or a subscription. He's had some frustrating experiences with older translation methods, so I want to help him find something simple to use. It shouldn't be in-ear or disruptive to others since he doesn't even wear headphones or a hearing aid. He's a bit of a tech newbie, so any recommendations on a specific device he can easily order from Amazon would be greatly appreciated!

If he has a smartphone, I'd suggest sticking with the Google Translate app. It's user-friendly and might be a good starting point for him. But just like you said, if he finds an app tough to handle, a separate device might confuse him more.
Exactly! If he can't manage the app, a full translation device might be too much.
There are a few translation apps out there that work well if he has cell service, like Google Translate. But I get your concern about needing something that doesn’t rely on connectivity.
That's good to hear! I think I'll have him try that first before looking for a dedicated device.
