Hey everyone! I built my PC in 2021, using the popular Lian Li O11 case. I'm looking to get the best performance upgrade for about $500 to $600, but I could stretch it to $1k if needed. I'm a heavy user who plays and creates Minecraft content, produces music, and enjoys newer games like Expedition 33.
I'm also considering downgrading my monitor since my Omen Curved Ultrawide makes content creation quite tricky. It's hard to record and edit 16:9 content on an ultrawide, so I'm asking for suggestions.
Here's my current setup:
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800x
- GPU: Gigabyte Vision OC RTX 3070 8GB
- Motherboard: Asus Prime X570 Pro
- RAM: G.Skill Trident Z Neo 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3600 CL16
- Monitor: Omen Curved Ultrawide WQHD 165Hz (considering downgrading)
I upgraded my CPU cooler and PSU last year (the PSU died on me unexpectedly). Thanks for your help!

Right now isn’t the best time for upgrades, especially with AM4 processors like the 5700X3D and 5800X3D being overpriced. You could find some decent deals on AM5 parts, but RAM prices are brutal. Try to catch some sales on RAM, or maybe keep your gear as it is for a bit. You have a good setup already; I’m still playing new games just fine with my Ryzen 3600 and 3060Ti!
It seems like your motherboard limits your upgrade options to the 5800X3D, which isn't a significant boost. If your PSU can handle it, you might want to think about upgrading to a 9070XT or a 5070Ti, which are both in your price range and could keep things running smoothly for now. Maybe you'll get around $200 for your 3070, so it’s definitely worth considering!
Thanks for the tip! If I can sell my 3070 for around $200, the 9070XT or 5070Ti sounds like a solid plan!

True, I was looking at prices, and they’re quite steep. I’d love to build a new PC, starting with a GPU upgrade and transferring it next year. Got any advice on monitors?
