What’s the Best Upgrade Path for My 5-Year-Old Gaming PC?

I bought this PC about five years ago for around $300 to dive into PC gaming, and it's been great so far. I mainly play Overwatch and WoW Classic, but lately I've been experiencing some fps drops and stuttering. I'm not very knowledgeable about building PCs and recently switched from a 1TB hard drive to a 1TB SSD. I also had a mishap with my RAM that forced me to remove two of the fans. After researching a bit (with help from ChatGPT), I think the Intel i7-9700F might be a good upgrade, followed by a GPU. However, I'm wondering if my old rig is worth upgrading like this or if I should just consider getting a new one for a similar price. Here are my current specs: Asrock H310CM-IB, i3-9100F, GIGABYTE 1650 Super, 1TB SSD, 1TB HD, and 16GB RAM. What do you think?

Sounds like you're ready for an upgrade! If your budget is around $500, you might be surprised at what you can do without totally rebuilding your rig. First off, consider upgrading your CPU and motherboard together since your current specs are holding you back, especially in CPU-heavy games like WoW. Your SSD is still solid, and you can keep that for your new setup. Something like an i5-14400F and a good motherboard would be a great start. Then later, you can look into upgrading your GPU for even better performance. Just keep in mind your power supply needs, and make sure it's up to handling those new parts!

Absolutely, the CPU upgrade is key. WoW really does benefit from stronger processors, more so than from higher-tier graphics cards, especially in raids.
