What’s the Best Way to Apply Arctic MX-6 Thermal Paste?

I've been watching a ton of videos on how to apply thermal paste, specifically Arctic MX-6, but I'm getting mixed recommendations. Some say a pea-sized dot is the way to go, while others suggest an 'X' shape, especially for the 9800X3D. I'm confused about which method to use. Should I just stick to the pea size that Arctic recommends, or might the 'X' shape give better results for this specific thermal paste?

As long as you put enough paste on, it really won’t matter which shape you choose. Both methods can work well if you ensure it spreads properly.

Either method works great! Just make sure you apply enough so it can spread over the surface. The key is to have complete coverage for optimal heat transfer.

How do you know how much is too much or too little?
