What’s the Best Way to Benchmark My New Linux Machine?

I recently built a new PC and installed Kubuntu 24.04 LTS, but I've never benchmarked a Linux machine before. I'm curious if there are any straightforward ways to test the performance of my system. I'd like to keep a record for future comparisons and to check if everything is set up correctly. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

If you're into graphics benchmarking, check out FurMark 2. It’s known for pushing your GPU to its limits and can be found at geeks3d.com/furmark.

Hardinfo is a Linux-specific tool that provides some benchmarking options and is usually included in most distributions. Just keep in mind, I've seen some odd results with it, so use it for a general idea rather than hard data.

The Phoronix Test Suite is another excellent option to consider. It's pretty comprehensive and can be found at www.phoronix-test-suite.com. It'll give you a good idea of how your system performs across various metrics.

You might want to check out Geekbench and OCCT for benchmarking. They're user-friendly and give you a solid performance overview.
