I'm currently using a Wi-Fi repeater to connect my PC since I can't run a direct line from my main router. The speeds are decent, but the repeater frequently disconnects, sometimes every hour, which is really frustrating, especially when I'm in the middle of gaming. I've thought about a few potential solutions: 1) Upgrading my repeater from a $20 model to a $50 TP-Link, hoping it will be more reliable. 2) Trying a powerline adapter, but I don't have much knowledge about how effective they are. 3) My house has several LAN ports installed in the walls; I'm wondering if I could utilize those, as I believe they're not just for telephones. I'm looking for advice on which option might be the best and if there are any other alternatives I should consider.

Definitely check out those wall jacks! If they accept RJ45 connectors, you might be in luck. You can even take one apart to see how it's wired. If it's Cat 5, you might be able to rewire it for internet if necessary. If it’s not up to standard, you could pull a proper Cat 5e or Cat 6 cable through using the old wires as a guide.
I looked it up and saw something similar to this [https://imgur.com/a/fuhL3Ar](https://imgur.com/a/fuhL3Ar), but I can't tell if it's the main router. The wall cabinet is pretty tight and hard to get to.
