I'm trying to install the Transmission bittorrent client on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, but I've noticed that when I use the Software store, it seems like I'm getting an outdated version. Is there a better way to install Transmission to get the latest version? I came across this command: `sudo apt install transmission-gtk`. Is this the right approach?

In Ubuntu 22.04, the Transmission version is 3.00, while the latest from Github is 4.1.0. So yes, the version in the Software store does seem a bit old. But don't worry too much! It will still function well for most users' needs.
The repositories for LTS versions prioritize stability over having the latest software updates. That's why you might find older versions of apps like Transmission. If you're looking to get the newest version, you might consider upgrading to a newer Ubuntu release, like 25.04, when it comes out. But honestly, even the older version from the store should work fine for basic torrenting.
So just to confirm, using Transmission from the Software store is still perfectly fine then?
