I mainly use my PC during the day for light tasks like browsing with Firefox/Chrome, chatting on Discord, and using Excel. My setup includes a Ryzen 5 7600 processor and a 6800XT GPU, but I don't need much power for these activities. I'm looking for tips on how to reduce my PC's power consumption to avoid overheating my room. Is turning off the GPU necessary, or are there other settings I can adjust?

Undervolting your CPU and GPU can significantly reduce heat and power consumption. I did it for my 7900XTX and it dropped from 80 watts idle to around 20-40 watts. If you have integrated graphics, you might want to consider using that instead for low-demand tasks.
Your components typically pull only the power they need, so if you aren't running demanding tasks, they shouldn't generate excessive heat. If it feels warm, something else might be wrong. Also, disabling GPU usage for simple tasks could help.
If you want to keep your room cooler, also consider closing any unnecessary background applications. If your CPU has integrated graphics, you can switch to that for even lighter usage. Sometimes just adjusting power modes can surprisingly help with heat management.
You might not see much of a difference on your electricity bill, but setting your power settings to 'power saver' in Windows can help. Just using default motherboard settings might even be enough for light tasks.
Modern components are pretty efficient, even when idling. The 6800XT GPU only draws about 7 watts at idle, so it might not be a huge issue. You could try undervolting for more savings, but that's mainly useful under heavy loads.
