What’s the Best Way to Preserve My Old Photos?

I recently discovered an old laptop that surprisingly still works! I'm excited to find so many old photos that I thought I'd lost forever. I'm considering getting an external hard drive to save them, but I'm not sure which one to choose. Any recommendations?

Burning your photos to a DVD is another option! This way, you have a physical copy and you can always upload them later if needed.

I think relying solely on an external hard drive can be risky if those photos mean a lot to you. A cloud service adds that extra layer of security. Start with a hard drive, but definitely consider iCloud for backup.

For long-term storage, standard spinning hard drives are great because they tend to last longer than SSDs, which can suddenly fail. Also, I've been using iCloud and Google Photos for years, and they work well for me!

I recommend using both an external hard drive and a cloud service like Google Photos or iCloud. This way, even if one storage method fails, your photos won't be lost forever.

An external hard drive is a good start, but definitely think about uploading them to Google Photos. Trust me, you'll want a backup because external drives can fail after a few years.
