I have a detailed network map that I need to store securely. Right now, I have a few options: a PHPIPAM server behind a VPN, Excel files saved on a network drive that's also behind a VPN, or using DokuWiki which is secured similarly. My main concern is keeping it safe from potential intruders, but I also worry that any structured storage might make it easier for someone to exploit. What are the best practices for storing this kind of information?

It's a good idea to consider VPN protection and two-factor authentication for your IPAM setup. If your organization allows it, that could strike a decent balance between usability and security. Always good to prepare for the worst, right?
While I know it's off-topic, you might want to check out Netbox. It's more feature-rich than phpIPAM and offers both IPAM and DCIM functionalities. Just something to look into for your future needs!
I've looked into Netbox too, but it seems better suited for larger organizations. Plus, I find phpIPAM's interface more user-friendly for smaller setups. Just my two cents!
