I had a bit of a scare last night when my laptop suddenly shut down. Now, when I try to turn it on, the screen stays black, but I can see the keyboard lights and hear the Windows startup sound. I've tried connecting it to another monitor, but that's not working either. Before this happened, I was having graphic driver timeouts, which makes me think that the drivers might be the issue. I also share an SSD between my laptop and desktop, so I'm not sure if there are two different graphic drivers involved. Any ideas on what I should do?

It sounds like you might be dealing with a hardware issue rather than a driver problem, especially if you can't access the BIOS. Your laptop may have a GPU failure, or there could be a problem with the display connection, motherboard, or even the CPU. Unfortunately, diagnosing laptop issues can be tricky since you can't just swap out parts like you would with a desktop. It might be a good idea to check if it’s still under warranty or take it to a local repair shop for a proper diagnosis. Also, if you're up for it, try looking up how to do a BIOS CMOS reset for your specific model—sometimes that can help!

If it has integrated graphics, that could change things a bit. Also, just because the SSD works fine in another computer doesn’t completely rule out hardware issues, but I understand your concern. Hopefully, reseating the battery works for you!
