What’s the best way to upgrade my free pre-built gaming PC?

I received a pre-built gaming PC for free from a family member, and I'm really new to the whole PC setup since I've mostly used consoles like my PS5. Here are the specs of my PC:
- Processor: 11th Gen Intel Core i5-11400 @ 2.60GHz
- Storage: 1.1 TB
- RAM: 8 GB
- GPU: GEFORCE GTX 1660 Super

After some digging, I believe it's the Lenovo Legion 5i Gaming Tower. I've noticed that the current setup limits me to running most games at lower settings, and I'm hoping to be able to play games at decent settings, ideally in 4K. I could really use some advice on what upgrades I should prioritize as I'm completely new to this!

The first upgrade you should consider is adding more RAM. If you only have one stick, getting a second one can make a big difference. Aim for a 2x16GB kit if you can.

Next up, your GPU is holding you back. The i5-11400 can handle much better graphics cards. Look into something like a 5060 Ti or a 9070 if you're looking for a solid boost. If you're open to spending a bit, an 11700 CPU paired with a 9070 XT or a used 3080 would also be worth it for a significant performance increase. Let's see how that goes for you!

It appears I have 1 stick of RAM. Do you have something you can recommend to me to buy? I've never bought a computer part before.

Definitely start with getting more RAM. You need at least a 2x16GB setup to really optimize performance, especially for modern gaming. For the GPU, it heavily depends on your budget, but remember that a solid 4K GPU can get pricey.

Thanks for the info. Do you have any recommendations for the RAM to buy? I know how to use a computer but nothing about the internals or even what most of it means lol.
