What’s the Deal with Long Internships?

I've been doing internships that last about 8-12 weeks, but I keep hearing that recruiters really value longer internships, like 7-8 months. How do these work? I'm currently in university and have classes three to four times a week all day. Is it possible to manage a long internship alongside my studies? Would these be hybrid, part-time, or what? How do people usually pull this off?

Every company's approach to internships can be different. At my workplace, we offered students the option to intern part-time throughout the school year, allowing them to adapt their work hours around their class schedules. It can totally be done!
