My Windows 11 installation is really messed up, and I want to completely reset it. Since I'm working on some important technical projects, I'm really worried about losing any of my work. I've backed up most of my important files, but to be extra cautious, I want to create both a recovery drive and a system restore point before I go ahead and wipe my system. If I end up completely wiping Windows, will using a system restore point offer more safety against data loss compared to using a recovery drive?

Honestly, if you're planning to wipe your Windows completely, neither option will help you recover if something goes wrong. You really should focus on making a proper backup of your important files and projects first before proceeding with the wipe.
A system restore point mainly restores Windows settings and configurations, not the actual OS or your applications. Since the restore point is stored on the same drive as Windows, if you wipe that drive, the restore point will be gone too. So, if you're planning a full wipe, it's pretty useless for recovery.

What’s the best way to back everything up properly?
