Hi everyone! I have an interesting challenge. My girlfriend's uncle is fully blind but really adept at using his PC thanks to his background as a software programmer. He knows how to handle various software, including Zoomtext for navigation, but whenever Windows or Zoomtext updates, it can mess things up for him. I often need to see his screen, especially when his Narrator isn't working right or when he's hesitant to try new software.
I want to set him up with a simple way to let me remote access his computer. Ideally, he should just click a shortcut, read me a code, and boom, I'm in. I tried using TeamViewer QuickSupport, but it didn't work well with Zoomtext since he couldn't properly identify where to enter the code. I've been exploring options and thought VNC might be a better route. Any suggestions? Really appreciate your help!

Both AnyDesk and TeamViewer have 'always on' options, which means he wouldn’t have to provide a code each time. Just check if he's comfortable with that setup! You might want to test both and see what feels more natural for him.
If you go for AnyViewer, the free version works well for personal use. The paid one is even more seamless once you set it up. It can run quietly without requiring any input from him after installation!
If you want minimal hassle for him, try the full TeamViewer client. If you sign into it on your devices, you won't need to mess with codes each time. It’s still free for personal use and can be used from your phone too! Just make sure to set it up to avoid unwanted updates.
Have you tried AnyDesk? It’s a pretty straightforward remote control app. It can run in the background, or he can launch it manually. It generates a numerical code for easy access, which might work better for him!
RustDesk is also a solid free alternative to AnyDesk, in case you're looking for more options!
This sounds promising! I’ll definitely explore it. Thanks a bunch!
Google Chrome Remote is another free option I've been using for years. Just set it up on his PC, and you can connect whenever you need. It’s pretty reliable!
Does that need his Chrome account, or can I just connect from my own? I want to avoid any registration hurdles.
Sounds great! I can manage that and avoid the confusion of QuickSupport. Just gotta find out if they need 2FA!
