Hey everyone! I just upgraded my old laptop by installing an SSD, but it's still really lagging with Windows 7 Home Basic. My laptop is an ASUS K50C with an Intel Celeron, 2GB of RAM, and SiS Mirage Graphics, which I've heard can be a hassle with Linux. I initially tried Ubuntu, but I ran into resolution issues because of the SiS graphics, plus it was still too slow. What lightweight Linux distributions do you recommend for my setup?

Honestly, it's not just the OS holding you back; modern web browsers can eat up the 2GB of RAM you have really fast, especially with complex web pages. If possible, I recommend upgrading to 4GB of RAM to get better performance. In the meantime, lightweight distributions like Bodhi, Linux Lite, Peppermint, or Debian with Xfce should work well for you. Just keep in mind that with heavy browser use, any OS will struggle with only 2GB of RAM.

The laptop supports up to 4GB, so I’m definitely considering that upgrade. I’m curious about Bodhi Linux though—how’s the support for SiS Mirage graphics? I’ve heard it can be an issue.
