Hey everyone! My girlfriend and I just moved into an apartment together, and I'm looking to set up Wi-Fi. Spectrum offers plans at 100 Mbps, 500 Mbps, and 1 Gbps, but I'm not quite sure how much we actually need. I want to play online games like Fortnite and Roblox without frequent disconnects. My girlfriend mostly scrolls through social media and plays games with me occasionally. We plan to connect two phones, two TVs, two laptops, and an iPad to the network, so I want everything to run smoothly. Any tips or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

For most casual browsing and gaming between you two, 100 Mbps is generally sufficient. You won't notice a big difference in everyday use compared to 1 Gbps, especially with just a couple of users. Streaming high-quality 4K video takes about 25 Mbps, so even if you're both doing that, a 100 Mbps plan should handle your needs without issues. If you're downloading large files or games often, that’s when going for 1 Gbps makes sense, but otherwise, 100 Mbps should be fine.
Unless you’re doing a lot of big downloads or streaming in 4K regularly, you should be alright with 100 Mbps. That's the minimum these days, but it's okay for light use. If everyone’s really into streaming and gaming frequently, then upgrading to 500 Mbps would give you more buffer without worrying about speed drops. Just make sure your router can handle the speed you choose!
It's true; your actual speed may vary based on your setup. Even with a 100 Mbps plan, you might only get about 20-30 Mbps on Wi-Fi, while wired connections could be much faster.
