I'm gearing up to build my first PC this weekend and I've got all my components ready to go. Here's what I'm working with:
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7700X
- Cooler: ARCTIC Liquid Freezer III PRO 360 A-RGB
- Motherboard: Asrock MB AMD AM5 B650 Steel Legend WiFi DDR5 ATX
- GPU: Sapphire Pulse AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT Gaming 16GB (Dual HDMI/Dual)
- RAM: CORSAIR Vengeance RGB DDR5 32GB (2x16GB) 6000MHz CL30
- Storage: SAMSUNG 990 Pro M.2 1000GB PCI Express 4.0
- PSU: Corsair RM750x 80+ Gold
- Case: NZXT H7 Flow, 2024 non-RGB
- OS: Windows 11 Pro
- Additional Fans: ARCTIC P12 PWM PST A-RGB (3x 120mm)
I just bought the GPU and the sales guy told me I need a 1000W PSU to avoid shutdowns when gaming. Is that really necessary?

An **850W** PSU is ideal for your needs. You might want to check out the [PSU Tier List](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1akCHL7Vhzk_EhrpIGkz8zTEvYfLDcaSpZRB6Xt6JWkc/htmlview?gid=1973454078#gid=1973454078) for more guidance on quality options. Hope this helps you with future upgrades!
I'd recommend an **850W PSU**. I’m currently using an 850W with my RX 9070 XT and have had no issues, even under max load with stress tests. It provides a nice balance without being excessive. The sales guy was likely upselling you.
Good to hear! I guess I should have planned for the 850W instead of the 750W I got.
For your rig, **750W is fine**. I'm also using a **850W PSU** with a RX 9070 XT and an AMD 9800x3d without any issues at full load. No shutdowns or anything. Just make sure you’re choosing a reliable brand.
Thanks for the input! I'll definitely be running some stress tests.
1000W is definitely overkill for your setup. Sapphire actually indicates that a **750W PSU** is sufficient for the RX 9070 XT. If you want some extra headroom for future upgrades, an 850W would be a good choice, but you don't need to go all the way to 1000W.
Thanks! Sounds like he was just trying to make a sale.
Thanks! I'll have to check that out for my next purchase.
