What’s the safest way to transfer data from one HDD to another?

I'm looking to move a large amount of photos and videos from my internal HDD to a larger internal HDD. Since this is almost 1TB worth of data, I'm concerned about the transfer process. I know I can just use copy and paste, but I'm worried about the transfer stopping halfway and potentially losing my files. What is the best and safest method that you all have found when handling such a large data transfer? Thanks for your help!

It's a good idea to transfer files in smaller groups. This way, if something crashes, you only have to redo the last group instead of everything. Plus, make sure to copy files instead of moving them initially. Once you confirm everything is safely on the new drive, you can delete the originals.

Absolutely, I recommend using copy and paste! I personally like Teracopy because it provides better feedback during the transfer. If the copy fails, no worries—you’ll still have your original data. Also, splitting the transfer into smaller segments, like 4 or 5 jobs, can help avoid interruptions. Don’t forget to back up crucial files on an external drive or cloud, since any HDD can fail unexpectedly.
