What’s up with Opus 4 suddenly becoming the Legacy Model?

I was using Opus 4 earlier today, and shortly after my last message, it changed to the 'Claude Legacy Model.' Now, I'm unable to send new messages, which is super frustrating. I'm curious—did they roll out a patch or something? This isn't the first time I've faced issues with it, especially after just being engaged in a conversation about interpersonal relations.

I just ran into this issue too! I was thrown into the legacy model apparently, and they suggested starting a new chat. It’s confusing and really disrupts the flow of conversation.

I just got a notification from Anthropic that this problem has been resolved now, so hopefully it won't happen again!

I feel your pain! I haven't had exactly the same problem, but back when Claude 4 Opus and Sonnet launched, all my chats from Claude 3.7 were forced to switch to Claude 4 Sonnet without any warning. It’s annoying because I couldn't revert them back, and I definitely didn’t ask for that change. Just wish there was more control over our chats, right?

Yeah, it’s frustrating! I just want to keep my chats the way I started them.

You're not alone! This keeps happening to me too and it's honestly so annoying. I had a simple question about refactoring a small file, and Opus 4 just dropped out and switched models without a proper explanation. It feels like they need to improve reliability because I’ve noticed a lot of chats don’t work as expected—like, 3 out of 4 times something goes wrong!

I'm having similar issues. My browser crashed while I was coding, and suddenly the RAM shot up to 5.3 GB! It’s just over the top. Makes you wonder about their updates sometimes.
