What’s up with the voice chat sounding so weird lately?

I've noticed a significant change in the voice chat recently. It seems that starting on June 7, 2025, the voice has become much more casual, incorporating breathing sounds, pauses, and filler words like 'ums.' It's really frustrating because it feels like I'm in the uncanny valley of speech, making it hard for me to focus on what's being said. I didn't realize how clear and professional the previous voice models were until now; they were like audiobooks, but now it feels more like a laid-back podcast. Is there a way to turn off these new features?

I actually don't mind it! The faster speech used to throw me off, so I appreciate the slower, more realistic pace now. Sure, it takes a bit longer to respond, but at least I can catch everything without losing track. I guess it just depends on personal preference!

That makes sense! I can see how some might prefer it more relaxed.

I noticed the change too! It's like we're experiencing a weird mix of real and artificial speech. While I don't think you can completely revert to the old settings, you could try adjusting the speech settings in the app. Some users have mentioned that tweaking the voice speed and style might help a bit. I get what you mean about missing the old Ember voice; it felt more natural than whatever this new guy is!

Yeah, I think the changes are really off-putting. The old Ember really did have a unique charm.

Lol, it really does remind me of that movie 'Her.' Feels like we're stuck in a sci-fi world where the AI has all these quirks now. I'd love to know how they decide on voice changes like this. Is it really an upgrade?
