I'm curious about the release timelines for Gemini 3.0 and OpenAI's upcoming GPT-5. Are we looking at later this year, or possibly 2026? Any insights?

My gut says we’ll have both by the end of this year. I suspect they’ll have remarkable capabilities in fields like coding and math, similar to how AlphaGo achieved superhuman performance before. But honestly, the pace of change has me uneasy; it's all happening too fast.
Based on how things have been going, my guess is GPT-5 might arrive in July or August, and Gemini 3.0 could come around December. It'll be interesting to see if they integrate the latest advancements into these models before the public gets them.
It does feel like they’re holding back some major upgrades until they see how competitors respond.
I wouldn't be surprised if we see both models this year. However, GPT-5 might just be part of the GPT-4 series rather than a standalone model. They seem to want to make sure it’s a significant upgrade before releasing it, possibly aiming for an October launch.
Releasing when competitors start gaining ground seems smart. It'll be fascinating to see what major updates get announced!
I think GPT-5 is on the way pretty soon, possibly within the next 1-2 months. They've been hinting at it for a while, and I doubt it’ll get pushed to 2026. As for Gemini 3.0, I haven’t seen any timeline for that yet, so it's kind of up in the air!
Why do you believe the engineering path to GPT-5 is so clear?
OpenAI can be unpredictable. Remember how GPT-4.5 was delayed? We might not see GPT-5 as soon as we hope.
Totally agree! This year's felt like a calm before a potentially chaotic storm in AI advancements.
