I found an old MacBook Pro while unpacking some boxes and was excited to see whether it still worked. Unfortunately, when I tried turning it on, it made unusual noises and the display was badly distorted. Is there anywhere I could sell it for at least a little money? Even if the laptop itself is beyond repair, I'm wondering whether the internal components or other hardware might still be useful.

There may be buyers who repair or collect older Apple hardware, but a completely nonworking laptop usually won’t be worth much—possibly only a few dollars. If it doesn’t sell, an electronics recycling program is a better option than putting it in the trash.
You could list it online as “for parts or repair.” Be upfront about the model, condition, noises, and screen problems, and include clear photos. Someone may want the logic board, display, keyboard, or other components, although the final price will probably be modest.

I was hoping the parts might be reusable, so recycling it properly makes more sense than throwing it away.
