Where’s the Best Place to Buy PC Parts These Days?

It's been a while since I built a PC—over a decade, actually! I've mostly just upgraded my original build over the years. Now I'm ready to start fresh and pass my old setup down to my nephew. I'm curious about the best places to buy parts for a new build. I only really know about Amazon and Newegg. Is Newegg still a trusted site for getting PC components, or has Amazon taken over? Also, if anyone has recommendations for good motherboards, processors, or graphics cards, that would be awesome. I'm mainly into gaming, but I do a bit of streaming on Twitch from time to time.

Amazon can be pretty handy since they have fast shipping, but you might find better warranties and customer service with Newegg. As for parts, if you're on a $2000 budget excluding monitors, a decent Intel i7 with a mid-tier GPU like a GTX 1660 Ti would serve you well without breaking the bank. Don't forget the SSD for faster load times!

Definitely, an SSD can make a huge difference in performance! Just make sure to check compatibility with your motherboard.

You might want to check out Micro Center if you have one nearby. They have great in-store deals and good stock on parts. Newegg is still solid, but it's always good to scout for local retailers. For parts, don't forget to keep an eye on combo deals! For your build, something like an AMD Ryzen 5 processor and an NVIDIA RTX 3060 could give you a nice balance for gaming and streaming.

Absolutely agree with checking local shops! They can sometimes have better prices than online. Ryzen 5 is a fantastic choice; it has great performance for the price!
