Hi everyone! I'm a software engineer with over 5 years of experience in technologies like React, Angular, .NET, Python, and SQL. I'm looking to dive into the world of cloud computing and get certified, but I'm not sure which platform to choose. Should I focus on AWS, Azure, or GCP? From a career perspective, which one do you think has the most potential in the job market? Thanks! 🙂

What cloud services does your current employer use? If they’re not willing to pay for your certification, it might not be worth the investment. Knowing the ROI before making a commitment is crucial.
I’d definitely recommend going for AWS because it’s the most recognized and sought after in the industry. However, keep in mind that having a cert doesn’t guarantee a job; practical experience is still key.
I've found that most people care about certifications mainly when it comes to consulting or contracting firms trying to impress clients. If you're focusing on job opportunities, check out the job listings in your area to see which cloud platform is in demand. Generally, AWS has the largest market share, followed by Azure and then GCP. You can't go wrong with AWS; think of it as the Walmart of cloud services.
That's a good point! I’ve noticed AWS tends to dominate many markets. What about Azure though, especially with all the Microsoft partnerships?
Yeah, AWS is still on top for sure, but Azure's growing fast due to its integration with Microsoft products.
If you're strictly looking at market share for job opportunities, AWS leads, followed by Azure and then GCP. But I'm certified in GCP and have had plenty of business come my way. My advice is to research each platform a bit and see which one resonates with you. They are similar, but their implementation can differ quite a bit. It’s important to enjoy the platform you choose to work with regularly!
That makes a lot of sense! I’ve worked mainly with AWS and Azure, and I actually enjoy both, but I am leaning more towards Azure right now.
Honestly, from what I've seen in the job market, none of them are a surefire ticket to a job. Sometimes networking is more valuable. It’s all about who you know to get your foot in the door.

My current company uses AWS and I’ve worked with Azure in previous roles. I’m considering self-funding my certification to enhance my skills, even if my employer doesn’t support it.
